Listen On:

If you'd told me a few years ago that SynxBody would be sitting on the Australian Financial Review Fast 100 list and on its way to becoming an eight-figure business I'm not sure I would have believed you. Not because I didn't believe in the products or the mission, but because the version of me running the business back then had a lot to unlearn first.

After a recent conversation with Danny Kennedy, I haven't been able to stop thinking about the mindset shifts that don't get talked about enough in business. The stuff that isn't on any business course. The stuff that only experience and a lot of honest self-reflection can teach you.

So today I want to share the three things I had to unlearn that have led to not only building an incredible business, but genuinely loving my personal and family life at the same time.

1. Unlearn the idea that doing more means achieving more

For a long time I believed that hustle was the answer to everything. More hours, more effort, more output. What I eventually understood is that clarity and focus outperform volume every single time. SynxBody didn't grow because we tried to do everything it grew because we got very clear on what we were actually good at and who we were serving. Simple, podiatrist-developed products that solve real problems for real people. That focus is still at the core of everything we do, from our compression socks and sleeves to our SynxPedi professional footcare range.

2. Unlearn the belief that asking for help is a weakness

This one took me longer than I'd like to admit. As a founder, there's an invisible pressure to have all the answers. The shift happened when I started treating the people around me my team, my customers, my community, as genuine collaborators rather than just supporters. Our SynxBody Squad Facebook community is a real reflection of that. Weekly Q&As, product feedback, early access to new launches, it's a two-way conversation, not a broadcast.

3. Unlearn the separation between business success and personal fulfilment

I used to think you had to sacrifice one for the other. That a thriving business meant a stretched personal life. What I've come to understand is that when your business is genuinely built around something you believe in, for me, helping people move better and feel better in their bodies, the two don't have to be in conflict. That alignment is what gets me out of bed in the morning.

The AFR Fast 100 recognition is something I'm incredibly proud of, but what matters more to me is that the people using our products, whether that's someone finally finding relief from cracked heels, or an aged care facility supporting their residents' foot health, are genuinely getting results. That's the real measure.

The Link Between Menopause and Foot Health

The Link Between Menopause and Foot Health

Menopause is often associated with hot flushes and sleep changes, but it can also affect foot health. Hormonal shifts may impact connective tissue, muscle strength and skin, sometimes leading to discomfort, instability or dry, cracked heels.

Rachael Ferguson, CEO of SynxBody and a podiatrist with over 30 years of experience, suggests that women should take a proactive approach to foot care during midlife to help maintain comfort, mobility and overall wellbeing.
