Creating a World Without Type 1 Diabetes : Sole Wellness Podcast EP 63 - SynxBody

Watch On:

Understanding Type 1 Diabetes

Many people still confuse type 1 and type 2 diabetes, but they’re fundamentally different conditions. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. It usually appears in childhood or early adulthood and has nothing to do with lifestyle or diet.

Dorota shared insight into the early signs of T1D, many of which are missed or misdiagnosed. These include:

  • Extreme thirst

  • Frequent urination

  • Unexplained weight loss

  • Fatigue

  • Blurred vision

Catching these signs early can be life-saving, especially for children.

We unpack what type 1 diabetes really is, the early signs most people miss and the life changing research that is rewriting the future of T1D.

You’ll learn in this episode of the Sole Wellness Podcast:

  • The difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes

  • Early signs and symptoms of T1D every parent (and family) should know

  • How far T1D treatment and care has come over the past 10 years

  • The current clinical trials making breakthroughs and what's next…

  • How early detection is saving lives (and how you can access it)

… and SO much more.

Footcare and Diabetes: A Vital Connection

As a podiatrist with over 20 years of experience, I’ve seen firsthand how diabetes, especially when undiagnosed or poorly managed, can lead to serious foot complications. High blood sugar levels can damage nerves and blood vessels in the feet, increasing the risk of:

  • Numbness or tingling (neuropathy)

  • Poor circulation

  • Foot ulcers

  • Infections that don’t heal

That’s why proper footcare isn’t optional for people with diabetes it’s essential.
