What does it really take mentally and physically to become a professional bikini bodybuilder?

We often admire athletes for their discipline, confidence, and drive, but few people truly understand the mindset that powers their success.

In this week’s episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Morgan Eldrett, an IFBB Bikini Pro, fitness coach, and host of the Mindset Lounge Podcast. Morgan isn’t just passionate about fitness; she’s devoted to personal growth and mindset mastery, and her insights go far beyond the stage.

Whether your goal is to compete, get stronger, or simply live a healthier, more intentional life, Morgan’s story is packed with lessons you can apply to your own journey.

Why Morgan Got Started in Bikini Bodybuilding

Morgan’s fitness journey began like many others with a desire to challenge herself and build confidence. But once she discovered the world of bikini bodybuilding, she realised it wasn’t just about sculpting a physique.
It was about developing mental strength, consistency, and self-belief.

As she puts it, “Your body will only go as far as your mind will let it.”

What It Really Takes to Prep Like a Pro

Think bodybuilding prep is just about lifting heavy and eating clean? Think again.
Morgan takes us behind the scenes of what prep really looks like from strict nutrition and posing practice to the emotional highs and lows that come with pushing your body to its limits.

One of the biggest takeaways: discipline doesn’t mean deprivation. It means staying committed to your goals, even when motivation fades.

The Secret to Getting in Shape (It’s Not What You Think)

When asked what’s most important for achieving lasting results, Morgan didn’t say training or diet.
She said: mindset.

“The reason most people fail isn’t because they don’t know what to do it’s because they don’t believe they can do it long enough to see results.”

Her advice? Start small. Build habits that make you feel proud, not punished.

Fueling for Success: Nutrition & Building Muscle

Morgan also shared her go-to nutrition strategies, including her most important food group for building muscle (you’ll be surprised!) and her favourite hacks for adding protein into meals naturally.

And when it comes to competition prep, her favourite meals might not be what you’d expect proof that balance and enjoyment can still exist, even in the most disciplined of seasons.

Then vs Now: How Bodybuilding Has Evolved

Bodybuilding prep has changed a lot over the last decade. From smarter nutrition approaches to improved mental health awareness, athletes like Morgan are leading the shift towards a more holistic, sustainable style of fitness.

It’s no longer just about looking your best, it’s about feeling your best, too.

Post-Competition: The Reality Check

One of the most eye-opening parts of our conversation was what happens after competition.
Many athletes struggle with body image, hunger, and the loss of structure once the show is over.

Morgan opens up honestly about her own experiences and how she’s learned to transition gracefully from competition mode back into real life with compassion, patience, and perspective.

The Mindset of a Champion

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from our chat? The mindset behind it all.

Morgan shared how she uses visualisation to prepare for competitions and everyday goals and how it’s worked time and time again.

Her philosophy: “See it, believe it, become it.”
That level of focus doesn’t just build muscles, it builds a life.
